Ropeways, kings of the mountains in winter

Ropeways have been around for centuries, but it is with the boom of mountain and winter sports, and mainly in the 20th century, that ropeways have become ubiquitous in almost every mountain area.

As competition increases between mountain and ski resorts, there is an ever growing need to optimize the business and the expectation to outcompete other regional and worldwide resorts with newer, better, bigger… but before jumping into big investments, it is essential to have a plan setting the goals and the path.

In CCS we know that in order to plan for the future, it is first necessary to fully understand the present. Then it makes sense to start planning. Analysing and evaluating the current state of the business and the existing potential shines a light into the strengths, but also allows us to understand the weaknesses in an objective manner that can be quantified.

In agreement with our clients and with their goals ever present, we propose ways to improve on the measured weaknesses, while further increasing the strengths. Working together with the clients, we can create a plan for the future, prioritizing actions and investments in the most beneficial way for the resort as a whole.

Once the roadmap is clear, CCS can also produce specific feasibility studies or additional planning for new infrastructures, business plans or any other of our services, before, during or after execution and into the operational phase. Because a project does not finish when construction ends, it continues for the duration of its entire life, and because Your Success is Our Future.

Benefits of cableways in the snow industry:

  • Functions as skier transport, but also tourists and other pedestrians, materials, etc...
  • Serve as access to remote, otherwise possibly inaccessible locations due to geography or snow, including small isolated communities
  • The ideal form of access to ecologically sensitive recreational areas (emissions free, very low noise, high above ground)
  • High capacity, high speed transportation
  • Certain types allow for special uses, such as “flying restaurants”
  • Low energy consumption
  • Extremely reduced footprint
  • Top passenger comfort
  • Cost-effective and lower personnel requirements
  • With modern technologies it is possible to have electricity supply inside each vehicle, opening a world of opportunities (heating, screens for commercial or tourist use, lights, ventilation, music, safety communications, etc…)
  • Relaxing and stress-free way to travel
